Nobody really prepares you for this part because everybody be stuck on growth tips and oils and routines like your hair just gonna keep doing the same thing your whole life, but real life don’t work like that and some people finding out the hard way when one day they look up and their hair just not moving like it used to and it’s confusing because you not even doing nothing wrong, you still taking care of it, still washing it, still trying to grow it, but it’s just… slow, like slow slow, like months go by and you barely see a difference and that mess with your head because you used to seeing progress and now it feel like your hair just stuck in one place.

One woman was talking about how she been trying for two years just to get her hair a couple inches longer and it’s barely moving, like she coloring it and don’t even need to touch the roots for months, and she looking at it like what is going on, is this my life now, because it’s not even growing evenly either, just one little spot doing something while the rest of her head basically paused.

And that’s when reality hit different because people don’t like talking about the fact that your body changes, your hormones shift, especially with things like menopause or just aging in general, and your hair is part of that, it’s not just gonna stay in that fast growing stage forever, and it’s not about you being lazy or not taking care of yourself, it’s literally your body moving different now, and that’s something no amount of rosemary oil or TikTok routine is gonna magically fix overnight.

What’s wild is some people in the conversation started saying they seen the same thing happen to them or people they know, like hair used to grow fast when they were younger and then later on it slowed down crazy, or stopped growing past a certain point, and they sitting there like yeah this just part of life now, and you don’t really hear that growing up because everybody selling you the idea that you can always fix everything if you just try harder.

Then you got people throwing out suggestions like vitamins, protein, zinc, collagen, all that, and yeah some of that can help depending on what’s going on inside your body, but even then it’s not a guaranteed fix because sometimes it’s deeper than that, like hormones, thyroid, stress, all that internal stuff that don’t show on the outside but controls everything, and that’s why some people saying go get checked, not because something is wrong with you, but because your body might just be in a different phase now and you gotta understand what’s actually happening instead of just guessing.

And then there’s the part nobody says out loud but everybody notices, like how some hair stops growing on your head but then starts growing everywhere else like your body really just doing its own thing, and you gotta laugh a little because it’s frustrating but it’s also like wow, nobody warned me about this part.

The hardest part is letting go of what you thought your hair was supposed to be, because a lot of people grow up thinking they gonna have long hair, thick hair, flowing hair, all that, and then reality comes in like nah, this is what you got now, and you gotta decide if you gonna keep fighting it or just adjust and work with what your hair actually doing.

And that don’t mean give up, it just means be real with yourself, because sometimes the goal changes, sometimes it’s not about getting it longer anymore, sometimes it’s about keeping it healthy, or finding styles that work with how your hair moves now, or just accepting that your hair not in the same phase it used to be in.

Because at the end of the day, your hair ain’t broken, your body ain’t failing you, it’s just changing, and nobody likes that answer because it don’t come with a quick fix or a product you can buy, but it’s real, and once you understand that, you stop stressing like something wrong with you and start moving different with it instead.
